Tampa Airport Marriott

We received a letter from one of our readers in regards to an incident that happened to her in Tampa.
Dear AHR, I saw your site and wanted to write you and let you know about one
of my GOOD experiences.....
Me and my Husband got bumped from several flights trying to
use buddy passes out of Tampa International Airport (New Years Eve 08)
when we ran out of luck, we asked the gentleman that was working the flight,
where could we stay if he had any ideas. He informed us that there was a
Marriott hotel connected to the airport, all we need to do was take the
shuttle to the "other side of the airport, its next to chilis". So we went to
the Marriott, checked in, and was amazed that they had rooms available.
Not only was the check-in girl VERY sweet she also gave us 2 vouchers
for their breakfast buffet they were going to have the following am.
When we got up to our room we were plesantly surprised at how BEAUTIFUL the room was! A GEORGOUS view of a tropical pool area (nicely lit),
and the bathroom was HUGE! The towels were FLUFFY,WHITE & Plentiful. We couldnt believe that this "room" was ours for the next couple of hours, We DIDNT
want to leave!! The beds were so extremely comfortable, pillows were nice and firm, sheets, VERY clean. My Husband LOVED the shower!
When we went down to the buffet the following am, the service was impecable
and the food was fresh and hot. It was one of the BEST UN-planned vacations we ever spent.

C. York , New Haven CT
Thank you!

Well, WTG Marriott!!! Kudos for the Outstanding Customer Service! Seeing how we didnt experience this ourselves, We're going to give you a 9 from our rating scale and look foward to getting to Tampa and experience this for ourselves!

Doubletree Denver

While staying at the DoubleTree (Denver,Co.,Springfield location).I encountered and extremely slow served meal, that I ordered over the phone to be picked up at the bar (because the restaurant manager decided to close the restaurant early on a Saturday night) I was told my food would be ready in 10 minutes. I proceeded to the bar in 15 minutes, where I waited for almost 8 minutes for passing waitresses and bartenders to acknowledge my presence, when the Bartender lady finally brought out my food, it was incorrect and non-complete. While Checking in, I recalled a FANTASTIC lunch Buffet that I had one time at this location ( it included a Sandwich bar where they will prepare ANY sandwich to order and IT lives up to the "Mile High" Status!) When I inquired about it, I was rudely told by Jason (the restaurant Manager on duty) that "there is NO lunch buffet tomorrow, its Sunday". Well, Jason, I appreciate the calender update, However, Im a guest and Im not aware of your Buffet Schedules, hince, the question at hand, plus, don't you think your hotel would benefit from having this "incredible" lunch buffet open 7 days as apposed to 5 (M-F).. I would like to add however (DoubleTree Hotels) carry an "AMAZING" Neutrogena Face Wash that is awesome!! My thoughts anyways..oh well due to the slow "non-completed" meal Ireceived in your bar and the "Star treatment" I got at check-in..Your Hotel scored a whopping 4! Good Luck in your quest to move up

Shilo Inn Great Start..NOT!

Well, I feel I should start my blog with "good ol'" Shilo, The check inn was speedy, and when i got to the room i was somewhat concerned that the lights by the bed did NOT turn on (by the switch on the wall NEAR the bed), but it turned on the light in the adjoining dining room...Odd? I put my leftovers from the day in the fridge (free to roomers) and took a shower, (shower was clean however, not enough towels or washcloths) showerhead left alot to be desired (a heavy spray mist) but got the job done. The Master bed they provided was extremely hard (if you like that..GREAT! I dont) three pillows (with what seemed to be used quite a bit) with stained pillowcases, (alot of hard water im assuming). A rather ok sleep took place until 745am when i heard (what seem to be) the maid in the room above mine, cleaning and rearranging furniture(so i thought, as i laid there swearing).then at 915am, heard a vacume cleaner, outside my door. Now check out time is 12 noon, what the heck makes them think im up at 9am not minding a vacume cleaning by my door..or a wrestle with a "rotti" above my room at 745am..NOT a place I highly reccomend , if your thinking about a nice restfull sleep..Too Bad Shilo your rating is a Low 3 on my scale of 1-10 (10 best topnotch). Your slogan "a 4 star hotel at a 2 star price" ehhh I think you have it turned around..Sorry.. 3-
